RCI HOLIDAYS | WINTER 2014 - page 36

ne of the best things about a family
holiday is the memories. Yes, they
fade slightly with time. Yes, the edges blur
and the details shift, but the core of that
time – the essence – is what stays with you.
Especially as you look forward, contemplating
the future. Imagining the possibilities.
Perhaps even looking to good books to
inspire you? These reviews are about looking
back, so you can look forward. They’re also
in celebration of RCI
®
’s 40-year anniversary.
Happy reading and keep warm!

The Headmaster’s
Wife - Novel
by Thomas
Christopher Greene
Arthur Winthrop is
the headmaster of an
elite New England
boarding school. He’s
found wandering
naked in Central Park
and gets into loads of
trouble, at which point he recounts a bizarre
story to the police. But his memories crash into
one another, yielding a winding narrative of
love, nostalgia, mystery, family and tragedy. If
you like Wally Lamb and Gillian Flynn, you’ll
enjoy this novel. (P.S. Watch out for the twist.)
