The malaria-free Komati Valley is home to this magnificent game reserve. Venture a little further afield to see archaeological ruins and waterfalls. Ten dams make this a fly-fisherman’s dream.

About the resort: Doornkop is situated in the beautiful, malaria-free Komati Valley and offers excellent flyfishing opportunities, with the Swartwaterspruit and Komati River running through the reserve and ten well-stocked trout dams. Enjoy game viewing on foot, horseback or in the comfort of your own vehicle on this game reserve. Fly fishing equipment available for hire; fly shop on site. In Winter, trout fishing in dams. In Summer, yellowfish fishing in rivers. Strictly fly fishing only (R250/kg for all fish kept). Game and bird viewing: Plains game including a large variety of bird species. There have been sightings of the short-tailed pipit during certain months of the year. Visit the waterfalls on hiking trails. General information: There is a small shop on site.
